Emo Night Brooklyn: Money

Event Branding | Poster Design | Social Media Assets

As Creative Director for Emo Night Brooklyn, I was responsible for the seasonal rebrand, transforming one of Burwood Media’s biggest brands. I reimagined a $100 bill, deconstructed it and reconstructed it in order to customize it specifically the Emo Night Brooklyn brand, as though it were it’s own form of currency. I replaced Benjamin Franklin’s portrait with a punk-inspired skull to reflect the rebellion of emo culture and challenge established societal values. To amplify this concept, I introduced elements of vandalism and crafted the illusion of the bill burning, symbolizing a defiant stance against capitalism—a theme that resonates strongly within the emo music genre. This rebranding effort encompassed new assets for print, social media, and promotional content, all unified by the burning dollar motif.

Social Media Graphics

To effectively showcase our event dates and cities in a weekly rotation, I developed several thematic variations for our all-show posts. Beyond the $100 bill, I incorporated the $20 and $5 bills, replacing Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln with an iconic image of Emo Night Brooklyn performing during the Yellow Card tour and a female version of the punk skull. These designs were crafted for a carousel format, ensuring a seamless and immersive panoramic experience as users scroll from one panel to the next. This approach not only highlights our event schedule but also reinforces the thematic branding of Emo Night Brooklyn in a visually engaging way.

Guest Art

This theme provided an excellent platform for showcasing guest art within our designs. By incorporating artwork from prominent artists in the emo and pop-punk genres, such as Travis Clark from We The Kings and Forrest Kline from Hellogoodbye, we were able to highlight their contributions and engage our audience. This format not only celebrated their work but also enhanced the overall visual appeal of our promotional content.
